Can I get import duties refunded when forwarding a product?

Can customs duty be claimed back?

A Yes. If any excess duty is paid on export goods, an application for refund of such duty should be made before the expiry of six months from the date on which the proper officer makes an order for clearance of goods for export. (Section 26 of the Customs act 1962).

Who can claim refund of custom duty?

Section 27 of the Customs Act, 1962 refers in this regard. The refund of any duty and interest, can be claimed either by a person who has paid the duty in pursuance to an order of assessment or a person who has borne the duty.
